Rehab Associates of Central Virginia (National Practice of the Year 2015) is an outpatient physical therapy clinic specializing in orthopedics and sports medicine. Our licensed physical therapists Lynchburg Clifton Street have experience in treating a variety of diagnoses. With specialties ranging from sports injury rehabilitation to geriatric programs like fall prevention, we are determined to help our patients reach their functional and performance goals in a timely matter. Through the combination of hands-on manual therapy, modalities, and strengthening exercises we bring patients back to the activities that they enjoy most. Dr. Catherine Beuerle Martin, a native of Lynchburg and a 2005 graduate of Heritage High School, received her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Shenandoah University in 2010. She received her Bachelor’s degree in 2007 from Shenandoah University where she was a setter for the SU volleyball team and a catcher for the SU softball team. Catherine was named the 2009 Don Scalf Award winner for the top female student-athlete in the USA South Conference, two-time Shenandoah University student-athlete of the year in 2008 & 2009, a two-time ESPN The-Magazine 1st team Academic All-America in 2008 & 2009, a 1st-team All-USA South catcher, and a 3rd-team All-Atlantic Region catcher in 2008. She was one of the few collegiate softball players in the nation in 2009 to receive an NCAA Post-Graduate Scholarship. Dr. Martin is an APTA Credentialed Clinical Instructor for PT and PTA students and takes students from the University of Lynchburg, Shenandoah University, Radford-Carilion University, San Diego State University, VCU/MCV, and the University of Saint Augustine. Catherine is currently an APTA Board Certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist, she is Functional Movement Screen Certified (FMS), and she is pursuing her PhD in Leadership from the University of the Cumberlands. In her spare time, she enjoys running, lifting weights, playing the violin, and spending time with her husband and son. Dr. Martin enjoys treating patients of all ages, but has a special interest in treating athletes, weekend warriors, post-surgical conditions, and utilizing aquatic therapy.

Andrew Tatom graduated from Old Dominion University’s Physical Therapy program in 1982. He completed his Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Rocky Mountain University in 2005 and has been a Board Certified Clinical Specialist in Orthopedic Physical Therapy since 1995. His special interests include manual therapy with an emphasis in spine, SI joint, headaches, facial pain and temporomandibular dysfunction, and dry needling.
Specialization: Spine and sacroiliac disorders, TMJ, dry needling, general orthopedics, and male pelvic health

Cate is originally from Lynchburg, Virginia, and graduated from Virginia Tech in 2018 with a bachelors in Human Nutrition, Food, and Exercise. Dr. Lowe graduated from the University of Lynchburg with my Doctor of Physical Therapy in May 2021. In her free time, she enjoys reading and spending time with my family and pets.

Dr. Foster graduated from the College of Charleston in 2007 with a BS in Biology and a minor in Secondary Education. Sam taught high school biology in Greenville, S.C. Loving the teaching aspect of physical therapy and the ability to help others achieve their functional and athletic goals, she attended the University of Lynchburg’s Doctor of Physical Therapy program and graduated in 2014. Dr. Foster continues to stay active in leadership through APTA Virginia. Sam also enjoys playing outdoors with her 2 boys and husband, paddle-boarding, marathon training, and trying out vegan recipes. Sam works in our Clifton Street office as a physical therapist.

Dr. Van Haren a native of North Potomac, MD. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology in 2013 from the University of Maryland. Andrew now resides in Lynchburg where he received his Master of Athletic training in 2019 and Doctor of Physical Therapy from the University of Lynchburg. Dr. Van Haren has special interests in general orthopedics, manual therapy, and sports rehabilitation. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his fiancé and their cat, staying active and enjoying the company of friends and family.

Dr. Bayram received her Doctorate of Physical Therapy degree from Northwestern University in Chicago, IL in 2017. She received a certificate of achievement in Vestibular Rehabilitation from Emory University in Atlanta, GA. Her interests include geriatrics, neurology, gait & balance, and vestibular therapy.
Specialization: vertigo, dizziness, fall prevention, rehabilitation for stroke, multiple sclerosis, and Parkinson Disease.
Mary Wallman, Physical Therapist II

Mrs. Wallman graduated from Old Dominion University in 1987 with a degree in Physical Therapy. She completed her Vestibular Rehabilitation certification in 1999 at Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta and established the first Vestibular Practice in Lynchburg specializing in Vestibular Treatment and Fall Prevention. Mary continues to attend Vestibular seminars 1-2 times a year for advancement or changes in Vestibular treatment. She has also attended seminars on Cervicogenic dizziness and has had extensive training with Balance/Fall Prevention using the NeuroCom Balance System.
Mrs. Wallman holds educational seminars at local health clubs, hospitals and retirement/nursing homes to educate the public on the causes of vertigo and what can be done to correct this debilitating condition.

Kristin Dougherty is a native of Virginia Beach and graduated from Old Dominion University with a Bachelors in Exercise Science. While in undergrad she also worked in a pharmacy and earned a Pharmacy Technician license. Kristin worked as an Exercise Physiologist with Atlantic Orthopaedic Specialist for 4 years. She then received her Associates of Science as a Physical Therapy Assistant from ECPI. In her free time, she loves boating/fishing, hiking, biking and walks in her new Lynchburg neighborhood with her fiancé and Yorkie.

Ms. Megan Grim earned her Associates of Applied Science as a Physical Therapist Assistant in 2008 from Washington State Community College in Marietta, OH. Since that time Megan has gained 13 years of experience in both inpatient skilled nursing and outpatient clinics where she has gained knowledge, and skills in gait and balance training, general strengthening, functional task retraining, sports injuries, repetitive use injuries, spine, and TMJ. She currently works with Dr Andy Tatom at the Clifton St clinic. When not at work she enjoys spending time with her 3 kids, singing, and hand lettering.

Gwendolyn started working as an aide at Rehab Associates in 1988. She attended the College of Health Sciences and graduated in 1997 with an Associates of Science Degree in Physical Therapy and is Licensed as a Physical Therapist Assistant. Gwen’s special interests are in orthopedics and she is currently working at the Clifton Street clinic.
