Rehab Associates of Central Virginia (National Practice of the Year 2015)  is an outpatient physical therapy clinic specializing in orthopedics and sports medicine. Our licensed physical therapists Lynchburg Clifton Street have experience in treating a variety of diagnoses. With specialties ranging from sports injury rehabilitation to geriatric programs like fall prevention, we are determined to help our patients reach their functional and performance goals in a timely matter. Dr. Van Haren a native of North Potomac, MD. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology in 2013 from the University of Maryland. Andrew now resides in Lynchburg where he received his Master of Athletic training in 2019 and Doctor of Physical Therapy from the University of Lynchburg. Dr. Van Haren has special interests in general orthopedics, manual therapy, and sports rehabilitation. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his wife and their cat, staying active and enjoying the company of friends and family.

Dr. Catherine Beuerle Martin, a native of Lynchburg and a 2005 graduate of Heritage High School, received her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Shenandoah University in 2010. She received her Bachelor’s degree in 2007 from Shenandoah University where she was a setter for the SU volleyball team and a catcher for the SU softball team.  Catherine was named the 2009 Don Scalf Award winner for the top female student-athlete in the USA South Conference, two-time Shenandoah University student-athlete of the year in 2008 & 2009, a two-time ESPN The-Magazine 1st team Academic All-America in 2008 & 2009, a 1st-team All-USA South catcher, and a 3rd-team All-Atlantic Region catcher in 2008. She was one of the few collegiate softball players in the nation in 2009 to receive an NCAA Post-Graduate Scholarship. Dr. Martin is an APTA Credentialed Clinical Instructor for PT and PTA students and takes students from the University of Lynchburg, Shenandoah University, Radford-Carilion University, San Diego State University, VCU/MCV, and the University of Saint Augustine. Catherine is currently an APTA Board Certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist, she is Functional Movement Screen Certified (FMS), and she is pursuing her PhD in Leadership from the University of the Cumberlands. In her spare time, she enjoys running, lifting weights, playing the violin, and spending time with her husband and son. Dr. Martin enjoys treating patients of all ages, but has a special interest in treating athletes, weekend warriors, post-surgical conditions, and utilizing aquatic therapy.

Andrew Tatom graduated from Old Dominion University’s Physical Therapy program in 1982. He completed his Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Rocky Mountain University in 2005 and has been a Board Certified Clinical Specialist in Orthopedic Physical Therapy since 1995. His special interests include manual therapy with an emphasis in spine, SI joint, headaches, facial pain and temporomandibular dysfunction, dry needling and male pelvic health

Dr. Cameron Light is originally from Ridgeway, VA and left to pursue his undergraduate degree from Virginia Tech. Dr. Light received his Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the University of Lynchburg, where he am also currently pursuing his Master’s of Science in Athletic Training. Cameron has a passion for working with the athletic population and individuals who enjoy staying active, but also love working with a wide variety of patients. He enjoys spending my free time in the outdoors with his fiancée and dog.

Dr. Colin Brooker is a native of Lynchburg, Virginia where he graduated from Heritage High School in 2018. Colin then pursued his biology degree at Randolph-Macon College. During his time at Randolph-Macon, Dr. Brooker was a member of the football team that won the ODAC championships in 2018 and 2020. Following graduation, Colin returned home where he pursued his Doctorate of Physical Therapy at the University of Lynchburg. Motivated by a strong passion to work with the athletic individual, Colin has enrolled in the Master of Athletic Training Program at the University of Lynchburg so he can expand his clinical expertise beyond the clinic. As a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, Dr. Brooker is well versed in rehabbing an athlete or active individual back to their sport or leisure activity and can create personalized, comprehensive exercise programs. During his leisure time, Colin enjoys weightlifting, running with his dog, and playing a wide range of sports like soccer, volleyball, pickleball and many more. Dr. Brooker is excited about treating all sorts of people to return them to their optimal level of function!

James Mankus, Physical Therapist


James Mankus, PT

Dr. Mankus is a licensed Physical Therapist with a Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) from the University of Lynchburg which he received in 2025. He is also a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) since 2020. Originally from Newark, Delaware, he holds a B.S. and a Master’s in Exercise Science focused on human performance and wellness from Liberty University.

His clinical interests include sports performance, vestibular therapy, and fall prevention. He is especially passionate about helping patients improve balance, reduce dizziness, and regain confidence in daily movement.

Now based in Lynchburg, Virginia, Dr. Mankus lives with his wife and their two dogs. In his free time, he enjoys strength training, hiking, playing board games, and staying up to date on the latest in rehab and performance science.

Gwendolyn started working as an aide at Rehab Associates in 1988. She attended the College of Health Sciences and graduated in 1997 with an Associates of Science Degree in Physical Therapy and is Licensed as a Physical Therapist Assistant. Gwen’s special interests are in orthopedics and she is currently working at the Clifton Street clinic.
